YouTube, Rum and a Pricefalls Personality Search!

As an Internet marketplace naturally the team at Pricefalls.com spends the entire day online.  This healthy/unhealthy practice undoubtedly results in stumbling across some of the more interesting of Internet memes and personalities.  Most recently the video SunnyD and Rum has plunged the office into a fit of auto-tuned craziness. However, all tooth-lessness and booze aside, the popularity of internet memes and personalities are making companies take a second look at their online presence.

No company realizes and benefits from the popularity of these personalities as much as their host YouTube.  As an example, as reported by Co-Editor of Mashable.com Ben Parr, “YouTube is launching another campaign to cultivate original quality content on its servers, promising to invest $35,000 in up to 25 of its partners.”

This program, aptly named YouTube NextUp, does not focus on personalities that have gained a following (in fact if you have over 300,000 subscribers you’re disqualified) but instead focuses on “accelerating the growth of the next big YouTube star[s]”.

Other companies are doing very similar programs and allowing personalities to ‘audition’ for parts as social media correspondents.  These brands are beginning to understand the point I’ve brought up in a previous post.  Viral personalities are becoming the next face of advertising.

Who do you think would make a good Pricefalls personality/spokesperson?  If you give me a name I will contact them, crazy or not!
