I am sad to say, today we are down one member of the Pricefalls.com team. One of my roommates and fellow intern, Andy, had to go home to Maine to deal with family matters that were unavoidable. I am personally going to miss both his vast economic knowledge and his analytic, left brain personality, which was completely opposite from my right brain thinking. I very frequently leaned over to his desk and asked him questions ranging from using excel to what he thought about buying gold. I know that I am going to miss him and I hope as soon as the home front situation is settled he can return to Las Vegas to work at Pricefalls.com. Besides, we need to work on perfecting the mandshake (man handshake).
Reflecting on the departure, I have come to realize exactly how lucky I am to be working not only in Las Vegas, the city or opportunity and connections, but at Pricefalls.com. Not since I worked at the Advising Office at Western Michigan have I had the freedom to express my opinions on a project so openly as just an intern and know my opinion is being seriously considered (as an example the LasVegasIntern blog, vlog and twitter were suggestions I made). Not only that, but living with co-workers is an experience I’ve never had before and I really enjoy it. While some people may be turned off to the idea of living with some of the people you work daily with it has helped to create close ties with co-workers that are invaluable. Having the ability to either go home and turn of your mind or continue working on a project idea you want to finish is an amazing feeling and has provided for a number of brain blasts that have led to other ideas.
[at this time Elliot Moskow, CEO of Pricefalls.com just came to my desk to get me for my week 4 internship assessment]
[Having returned] I can now say two things: 1) I will be at Pricefalls.com for a while, having had a great assessment, 2) I am now a paid blogger. I know this isn’t professional but :D!
